2023 Stats

We are honored to work alongside spiritually-rooted and justice-oriented nonprofits who are dedicated to helping their communities flourish. Our goal is to play a role in supporting these vibrant organizations in their work. We know that many issues have malformed philanthropic efforts throughout history, but we seek to imagine a new way forward. We will not be perfect, but we will strive to help nurture a new equitable era in philanthropy. Since our inception, the Wayfarer Foundation has given approximately $33M in grants. Here is a glimpse into how we invested our funds in 2023.

In 2023, 39% of our grantee partners received multi-year funding.

From 2022 to 2023, Wayfarer doubled its grant giving from approximately $9.5M to $19M.

In 2023, 88% of grantee partners served communities that are 50% or more BIPOC.

In 2023, 64% of grantmaking dollars supported organizations with an executive leader who identifies as BIPOC.

Our grantee partners identify with a variety of spiritual, cultural, and religious traditions, including 15% of our partners who identify as Bahá’í-inspired nonprofits.
